2016 was a year that a lot of people were delighted to be done with. I am one of those people. While I don’t believe the only time to make major life changes is at the dawn of a new year, I do feel there is no better time to do so. Although I’ve never been one to fulfill my New Year’s resolutions, I’m going to try yet again. Hopefully posting this online will push me further toward my goals.
Let’s talk about some things that I’ve learned, first.
This year was a tough one. I can’t pinpoint exactly why, but as I reflect on 2016 I am overwhelmed with sadness and frustration. I had a lot of things planned for this year, and most things I didn’t finish or even start. I had a spurt of gym motivation and ate healthy for a while, but that is now long gone. I started this blog, and fell short after I ran out of ideas and started comparing my own blog’s success to bigger blogs. This year was a year of comparison, as I measured my own success alongside far more successful people. I think that is why I feel I royally failed at 2016.
So, what am I going to do?
I am going to make this year about me. I want to grow personally, mentally, and physically. I am going to dedicate this year to developing my own personal growth, and try to do it without comparing myself to other people.
My next blog post will be all about my New Year’s resolutions and how I plan on pursuing them.
This year will be about positivity, wellness, Jesus and many more wonderful things. I am vowing to make this year different, and I can’t wait for you to follow and join my journey.
What did you learn from 2016? What will you do differently in 2017?
